The leather, stitching and sole thankfully seem to be much higher quality than a very similar boot by another, similar manufacturer which I have done a comparison with and they look better in my opinion too.
I hope that they will last a long time as they look great, the type of boot you can wear casually but also in more formal settings and still look good and professional.
They're a bit stiff and awkward at first but they adjust to your feet over time and become very comfy, I have only had them a few weeks so will be interesting to see how they hold up to semi frequent use.
Amazing quality and finish
From the beautiful construction, to the sleek toe box, and overall quality of the boot, this is one of the best boots out there ! Love the prominent sole as it is more casual than a sleek thin sole. Love Love Love !
A wonderful and beautiful pair of shoes and the return service is also one of the best ( little problem with the size ihave chosen)
This is my second pair of Solovair boots. The first was an 8” derby that served me well for over 2 years of hard use. I discovered this brand because I was looking at a competitor but discovered that they were mostly made in China now. Once I learned that I went looking for an alternative. The difference being that Solovair only make boots in Britain!
Anyway, the dealer boot is very nice, I was concerned that it would be too lose on my foot and would flop around and try to fall off as I walked, that was concern for nothing! These boots are very secure on the foot, just like the lace up versions. They look really great in the hi-shine finish and withstand scuffing surprisingly well. My experience was not very positive from the beginning however, when I first wore these boots they were horrible, the insole had no give, it was like standing on concrete, the outsole was very stiff, and the leather was so hard that you couldn’t even bent it with your hands. After a few days they started to get better but were still hurting my feet badly. I finally put a shoe tree in them for 3 days straight and kept increasing the tension periodically over the 3 days and when I wore them again they were much better. There was still one small spot that would hurt the big toe on my right foot. That has been getting better little by little and now they are quite comfortable. All of this was a surprise because the derbys’ that I had were comfortable from day 1, these took a bit longer.
I am an auto mechanic so for me it is essential to have a boot that is tough and will stand up to constant abuse, oil spills, slippery floors, and lots of standing and walking. I am happy to say that these boots fit the bill perfectly. I just wipe them down once a week to remove the oil and grease residue and that’s about all the care that they need. The high shine finish stands up extremely well to the abuse I give it and the soles don’t slip no matter what is on the floor.
I am glad that I decided to return to Solovair for the second time and I am looking forward to seeing how these boots age compared to my last pair. I am a customer for life.
